Used Varian Turbo-V 70 with controller unit and cable. The pump and controller were tested, and work. Unit tested as follows: 1 Connected a regular vacuum pump to the turbomolecular pump. Pumped air out of turbomolecular pump to get vacuum inside.. 2 Hooked up controller. 3 Shorted pins 1&6 to start pump. Monitored pump with stethoscope. 4 Verified by sound that pump ramped up to intermediate speed, then a minute or so later, ramped up to final speed. 5 Stopped turbomolecular pump. Allowed several minutes for pump to coast down. 6 Bled pressure to atmospheric. Removed regular vacuum pump.
